Creative Drawing Club

The Creative Drawing Club is a new club launching in 2025, designed for children aged 11–14 years old who have a passion for drawing and want to expand their skills in a structured and engaging environment. This club encourages creativity while also introducing key drawing techniques.

Dates: 5 March, 12 March, 19 March, 26 March, 2 April, 9 April, 30 April, 7 May, 14 May and 21 May.

Time: 6:15 - 7:15 pm

Throughout the sessions, children will explore mark-making using dry media such as graphite pencils, colored pencils, charcoal, and pastels. They will learn practical techniques like measuring, understanding proportions, and working with light, shadow, and form to create depth in their artwork. Additionally, we’ll cover the principles of composition to help them develop well-balanced and dynamic drawings.

Participants will have the chance to work on still-life compositions, using everyday objects, as well as reference photos for more detailed drawing exercises. There will also be opportunities for outdoor (plein air) drawing (if the weather permits), encouraging children to capture the world around them in a more spontaneous and creative manner.

Our aim is to help each young artist experiment with different styles while learning foundational techniques, without making the experience feel overly technical. We prioritise the joy of drawing and the creative journey, ensuring children feel inspired and confident in their artistic abilities.

The children will also be introduced to artists around the world and shown how artists have drawn throughout the centuries. They will be exposed to various styles and techniques within drawing. There is no one way to draw!

Drawing is a skill that takes time to develop. The club will introduce new exercises and different influences each term, keeping the club dynamic and fresh.

All art materials are provided.
